Can be used daily or as needed. In times of increased stress, it is safe to double the amount.
Hazards and Cautions
Use not advised if dog is pregnant/lactating or has a milk allergy. If a dog is currently receiving medication, the dog owner should seek advice from their veterinarian before giving their dog ADAPTIL Chew. As ADAPTIL Chew contains L-tryptophan it should not be administered to dogs treated with SSRIs (e.g. fluoxetine, sertraline), tricyclic antidepressants (e.g. amitriptyline, clomipramine), MAOI-B (e.g. selegiline) and some pain management drugs (e.g. tramadol or tapentadol) as this might increase serotonin concentrations and induce serotonin syndrome. Sedative medications such as benzodiazepines (e.g. diazepam, clonazepam), barbiturates (e.g. phenobarbital, pentobarbital) and antihistamines can interact with L-tryptophan and induce sleepiness.Taking L-tryptophan with phenothiazines (e.g. chlorpromazine, acepromazine) can induce movement disorders and prolactin secretion. Theanine may contribute to hypotension.
